There's nothing as great as getting paid daily if you so desire. For most people, working the day and then getting instant pay for the work they've just completed is just a dream. They have to work the whole week, or a couple of weeks before they see their paycheck or direct deposit come in.
The gig driver work economy works a bit different. Sure, Dashers, as well as all other similar type company drivers can wait until the end of the week to receive their money, but they can also request their money any time they want. With the click of a button they can have their earnings instantly deposited into their bank account.
Sure is great when you have an important bill due soon and can't wait until your regular payday. Doordash has what they call "Fast Pay" and their rival companies all have something similar . We are going to talk about Doordash and their major rival companies and compare their versions of a daily pay program.
Doordash and Fast Pay
As we already mentioned, Doordash has what they call Fast Pay. To use Fast Pay, a dasher must register their debit card with Doordash. The bank account information is needed for the normal direct deposits, but the debit card is needed for Fast Pay.Dashers can use Fast Pay once per day. That means if a dasher cashes out $50 at 2 p.m., they will not be able to cash out again until after midnight. If they decide to cash out another $50 right after midnight, once again, they wont be able to cash out again until the next day.
When using Fast Pay, a dasher must cash out their entire earnings up to that point. They cannot cash out on only some of their earnings. For example, if a dasher has $200 earned so far, they can't use the Fast Pay system to only cash out $100. They will have to cash out the entire amount. Fast Pay is only available to Dashers in the United States. The charge to use Fast Pay is $1.99 per transaction.
Postmates and Instant Deposits
Postmates has what they call "Instant Deposits," and it's very similar to "Fast Pay" from Doordash. You'll need to have a debit card on file with Postmates to use Instant Deposits, and Postmates states that you will receive your money into your bank in 15 minutes to a half hour. From experience though, I'll let you know that it usually happens within a minute or two.
With Instant Deposits, a Postmater is not limited to the amount of times they can request money. Postmates drivers can cash out as often as they like. It doesn't matter what day of the week or what time it is, when a Postmater wants their money they can have their money.
Each Instant Deposit cash out will cost a Postmate driver $0.50. As you can see this is much cheaper than Fast Pay from Doordash. The only requirement needed to cash out is that the Postmates driver must have $5 of earnings which should always be simple enough.
GrubHub and Instant Cash Out
GrubHub's version of this is called "Instant Cash Out." With Instant Cash Out, a GrubHub driver can have their funds deposited into their bank account in moments. Like all the others, you cannot request partial money. It's all or nothing.
Grubhub, like Postmates has a $0.50 fee for each Instant Cash Out transaction. There is a way around this fee though, and many GrubHub drivers get their Instant Cash Outs for free by using their Chase checking account. That's right! If you have a Chase checking account, the 50 cents fee will be waived.
To make things even better here, all GrubHub drivers can cash out as many times as they want. There is no limit. The only thing to remember about this is that there is a maximum of $500 that can be instantly cashed out per day.
The last thing I want to mention here about Instant Cash Out from GrubHub is that they are the only ones that mention drivers not being eligible for on demand pay due to a court ordered garnishment. In other words, if there is a current garnishment going on, then that driver will not be able to use Instant Cash Out until that garnishment is satisfied. To make it easier for those in this situation, the option for Instant Cash Out wont even be shown on the driver's app.
Uber Eats and Instant Pay
The Uber Eats version here is called "Instant Pay," and by now you should have realized how similar all the names are from these companies. There is no limit on the amount of your funds you can request, and you may do so up to 5 times per day.
There is a $0.50 charge per use, but like GrubHub, there is a way to get around this fee. Normally, an Uber Eats driver will have to enter their debit card in order to qualify for Instant Pay. This is fine and dandy, but as already mentioned, there will be a 50 cents charge each time Instant pay is used.
To get free Instant Pay deposits an Uber Eats driver just has to open up an Uber Visa Debit Card from Gobank. From their app, Uber Eats makes it very easy for their drivers to open up this bank account. Once this is done, all Instant Pay deposits will be completely free. From personal experience, getting the Uber Visa Debit Card is well worth it.
