Christmas Time Dashing in the Year of the Corona Virus

As we near the last week of 2020, we can say for certainty that it has been a very strange, scary and confusing year. On this Christmas Eve day, there is one more major event that must pass before the 2021 New Year's bash. Christmas is here. Oh yes, Christmas, the time that we celebrate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ's birth.

Whether you are a fellow believer in Christ, another faith or just a straight out atheist does not matter. You will see and hear the impact of Christmas. Christmas trees being sold in lots, houses decorated with Christmas lights, Santa Claus, the whole shabang! That's just life in a Christian nation. But let's talk about dashing on Christmas.

Will this Dasher be working on Christmas day?

First off, I'll let you know that I have dashed on Christmas day before. I have never put a whole day in, but I have worked 4 or 5 hour shifts on Christmas a few times before. This year, I'm 99.9 percent sure that I will not be doing any dashing on Christmas. Instead, I'll be enjoying the day with family.

Were past year's Christmas days busy?

Surprisingly, Christmas days of past years have been very busy. I would never guarantee anybody that they will make a killing on Christmas day, but I very much doubt it would ever be slower than normal. A lot of people assume that there will be no calls since it is a holiday. They figure that people are eating together with their family.

That has never been the case as there are lots of people that don't celebrate Christmas. It's just another normal day as far as they are concerned, and they will treat it that way. Then you have those that just don't have any family; or cannot be with their family for whatever reason. These people still have to eat, and many of them will turn to Doordash to have their food delivered.

Will Christmas day be busy for Dashers with the Pandemic going on?

The year of Covid 19. The year of Corona Virus. No matter what we call it, it's something that has impacted all of our lives one way or another. Not just here in America, but the entire world. With the pandemic just about as bad as it has been, there's no doubt that Christmas will be as busy as ever in 2020.

Even though a lot of people will ignore the stay at home orders and the good advice of only celebrating Christmas with those in their household, most people will have the common sense to do so. That means that there will not be as many large Christmas family gatherings. This of course means that there will be more calls for Doordash drivers to deliver and more money to be made. Those that will go out dashing on Christmas. Be safe out there and enjoy your day. To all Christmas dashers and non- Christmas dashers, Merry Christmas and God bless you!

Matthew 1:23

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
