All Doorash delivery drivers will at some point need to talk to a Doordash customer support rep for the first time. When this happens, the Dasher will undoubtedly notice that the Doordash agent has an accent. No big deal, but have you ever wondered where these Doordash reps are located?
Doordash customer service reps are in the Phillipines
If you have not been around Filipino people enough, you may not recognize the accent right away. Me, growing up in an area where there was a Filipino community, I recognized the accent right away. In my experience, there has only been one time when an agent did not have an accent. After chit-chatting for a while, I found out that he was Filipino, born and raised in the Los Angeles, CA. area. He ended up moving to the Philippines as a young adult.
I have had long personal conversations with some of the Doordash agents, and most of them are very friendly. Don't get me wrong, there are some grumps, but all in all most are friendly. As far as their work is concerned, most of them do a great job and are very helpful with a Dasher's problem.
Why are the Doordash customer service reps in the Philippines?
This question doesn't take a rocket scientist to answer, but to lay it down here it all comes down to money. Why would Doordash want to pay Americans minimum wage (around $15 per hour) when they can pay people in the Philippines a small fraction of the cost.
It's all about cost savings, and don't think Doordash is the only one doing it. All companies are out to make money, that's what business is all about. Sure, we all may have our opinions about companies outsourcing work, but that's the way the world turns.
There is no Doordash food delivery in the Philippines
Something that may come as a surprise to a lot of people is that there is no Doordash food delivery presence in the Philippines. I cannot answer the question as to why not, but maybe in the future it will happen. I know when I first found out I was shocked. I just figured that with all of Doordash's customer support agents being there that they would have their service there also.
That doesn't mean that there isn't any food delivery service in the Philippines. As a matter of fact, the food delivery business is a thriving business that is dominated mainly by Foodpanda, Zomato and Grabfood. Most Americans will most likely have never heard of these companies, but they are very large companies that serve other parts of the world.
Depending on the time of day, I also get agents in Colombia, El Salvador, and in India, so far..... most often I reach the Philippines, but I have also reached these other 3 countries, and once in a while, I have gotten agents in the USA doing Escalated Support calls.
ReplyDeleteThe same nationalities work for UBER, and there are rogue cliques that steal from Americans on an hourly basis working with both UBER and DoorDash. UBER deactivated my account out of nowhere after close to 1800 deliveries owing and me +$400😡🤬 in Promotion pay. FED'S need to infiltrate these 2 rogue Companies so they can regulate their dealings with drivers better and stop them from cheating Americans out of scores of Millions of dollars daily. These are rogue Companies.
