Doordash: Dashing in Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario

When dashing in the Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario region, a dasher will find that there are three major freeways running through the region. The 210 freeway runs through the north side of the region, the 10 freeway runs right through the middle of the region and the 60 freeway is in the southern part of the region. For any dasher that needs to travel in an east-west way, there will most likely be one of these freeways available to make your delivery fast.

Two areas that a dasher will certainly become familiar with in the Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario region are Victoria Gardens and the Ontario Mills Mall. Of course there are many other areas that a dasher will have to pick up from, but these two areas are two of the most popular pick up places.

Good things about dashing in the Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario region

For what it is worth, the Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario region does get a good amount of calls to keep you busy compared to neighboring regions. There are a lot of restaurants at the Victoria Gardens area. Anybody that dashes in this region will surely become familiar with Victoria Gardens. This outdoor mall is located in Rancho Cucamonga and is north of Foothill Blvd and south of Church St. The Cheesecake Factory is a merchant that receives a lot of calls and is located at Victoria Gardens. Day Creek Blvd. is normally used to enter the Victoria Gardens mall but there are other ways in.

Dashers will also become very familiar with the Ontario Mills Mall which has many restaurants inside the mall and around the outskirts of the property. Learning which restaurants are in the mall is important here as no dasher really wants to waste their time going inside of a mall to fulfill an order as it is usually too time consuming

Again though, there are many merchants all around the Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario region to keep you busy all day. You should receive call after call throughout the day. Once it starts getting a little late, you may have small delays in between calls of about 15 to 20 minutes.

Bad things about dashing in the Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario region

The very first thing that I noticed about this region was the low amount of pay per call. Surely there are other low paying regions, but when almost every call pays exactly $5.50 it is difficult not to notice. To give you an example, by looking back at the last time I worked the Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario region, I did 15 calls. Out of those 15 calls, 13 of them paid me $5.50. If you want to test the waters yourself, by all means go on ahead. It does not matter how far the customer is, it will still be a $5.50 payout.

I may have to take that back, I did notice that on a couple of calls, which I denied, they were going to pay a little more. They were going to pay $5.70 to drive 12 or 13 miles. When working the Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario region, you will always be nickel and diming it. I do not know if there is a regional manager for each region in the Doordash platform, but if there is and they receive some kind of insensitive or bonus for making the company money, the regional managers in Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario are laughing their way to the bank account. They are making a killing because they certainly are not paying their dashers anything.

Another bad thing about this region is the amount of large apartment complexes that you will have to deliver to. I kid you not when I say that about 80 percent of deliveries are to one of the many large apartment complexes in the area. I am not talking about a simple ten unit apartment. I am talking about apartment complexes that run a whole long block long and that have buildings A to Z. Each building of course has its own apartment numbers connected to it. The entire apartment complex may have almost a thousand apartments. A few examples are the "Homecoming Apartments," "Sierra Heights Apartments," "Evergreen Apartments" and many more.

Sometimes, when you text the customer and ask what building they are in, they don't know and will just tell you the apartment number. Just crazy! To make matters worse, many of these people will not come out their apartment to wave you down. They will just sit in their apartment waiting for you to find them and knock on their door. The way I figure it is if they don't mind their food getting cold as I struggle to find their apartment so be it. If they don't care then I don't care.

The last thing that I would like to mention is the crazy Ontario Airport traffic. I try to stay away from the airport area as traffic can get very bad. You may want to avoid the freeway overpasses if possible. This is especially true of the 10 and 60 freeway.

How much should you expect to earn for an eight hour shift dashing in Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario?

If a dasher puts in an eight hour shift from 9am to 5pm, their earnings will most likely be around $60. Remember, this region has the largest percentage of $5.50 calls that I have ever experienced anywhere, but the calls do come in.

How much should you expect to earn for a full day of dashing in the Rancho Cucamonga / Ontario region?

If you really needed to hustle and dashed from 9am to 12 midnight, you would most likely earn around $100. If you were to receive constant $5.50 calls during the whole day, and you were able to complete two dashes each hour, you would be able to complete 30 dashes and earn $165. Unfortunately, that will not happen, and you will end up with lots of downtime in between calls in the late evening and later hours. Some down time does happen in the day time occasionally also, but not as much and not for very lengthy times. If working the entire day, expect to earn $100.

Honorable mentioned experience

I once had a delivery to a jail which was a first for me. It may have been a prison, not sure if it was a jail or a prison, but you get the idea. It was on Etiwanda St. I pulled in, checked in with the Sheriff and was directed to the the visitor lobby area. I drive to the lobby area and it stunk badly. I went in the lobby and told the Sheriffs behind the glass windows that I had a food delivery for officer so and so and officer so and so. The three sheriffs, two females and one male all between 40 and 50 years of age made a phone call and told me that they will be right out.

It took about 20 minutes, but eventually these two young sheriff kids come out from a door located at the corner of the visitor lobby. The door that they open seems like a really heavy door, and for some reason it seems as if it leads to a cell block. They obviously cannot come out the door and close it because they would lock themselves out. The officers, a male and a female look like they are around 19 or 20 years old. I go hand them their food and they thank me. Meanwhile, the Sheriffs behind the glass windows are observing the whole situation as the kids grab their food. They were looking at them sort of like the way a parent looks a their children when they are disappointed in them. Seemed like they could not believe that these two kids ordered Jack-In-The-Box to be delivered to their prison.
