There was an article written here recently titled "Scammers calling Doordash and Stealing Private Bank Account Information."
In this article, we explained how this scam worked and what dashers had
to know in order to protect their bank accounts. If you do not know
about this scam or have not read the article, I encourage you to do so
now by clicking on the link above.
Many dashers have had their entire bank account wiped out by these scammers, and even though I had heard about this scam for a while, a few months ago it was really brought to my attention when these thieves tried to scam me for my money. They did not get very far with me, but upon this happening I had to share every detail of the ordeal with my readers here. Again, read "Scammers calling Doordash and Stealing Private Bank Account Information" to learn more.
Doordash recently sent out a notification to dashers about a security measure that they are taking with fast pay. When and if a dasher ever decides to change their debit card information that is linked to their fast pay, it will now take a week to update. I'm guessing that this will give a dasher enough time to find out that their information has been changed by somebody other than themselves.
The way things previously were, a scammer would log in to a dasher's Doordash account, change the fast pay debit card information and immediately have the dasher's money sent to them. It has been much too easy for these thieves to steal a dasher's hard earned money.
This is great news and a move that Doordash should have made a long time ago, but let's give Doordash credit for making this move now. It has been just too easy for con-men to scam a dasher, get in to their Doordash account and steal their money. Now it won't be as easy for them.

Notification received from Doordash about fast pay security
Doordash recently sent out a notification to dashers about a security measure that they are taking with fast pay. When and if a dasher ever decides to change their debit card information that is linked to their fast pay, it will now take a week to update. I'm guessing that this will give a dasher enough time to find out that their information has been changed by somebody other than themselves.

Doordash takes the right step to protect dashers from scammers
This step taken to protect dashers was really needed by Doordash. There is no question that these thieves cost Doordash lots of money. Dealing with dashers that are contacting them about their stolen money is a task that I am sure Doordash had no interest in but nevertheless has to deal with. With it becoming so common I'm sure that Doordash has spent a lot of money and time resolving these issues.
With their new strategy to combat these thieves, I'm sure Doordash will receive a lot less complaints from dashers about having their money stolen. If a con-man were to talk a dasher in to sharing their Doordash email and password with them, and that con-man changed the information in the dashers debit card information, a week should be enough time for a dasher to realize that their information has been changed. I would be very surprised if a con-man were able to steal money using this old con game. I think it is time for all these con-man to step up their game and come up with a new strategy because this little game of calling up dashers is not going to work anymore. Good job Doordash!
With good things will always come bad things, and I am sure that some innocent dashers will come across a problem when they themselves try to change their debit card information. There is surely going to be some dashers that try to change their debit card information to another debit card that they have for whatever reason. When they make the change, they will be surprised when they find out that it will take a week for the change to happen. There will be no going back and they will not be able to get their money for a week. They will surely be upset as they need and are used of receiving their money on a daily basis. As I've said, this will happen to a few people who will claim that they never received the notification of how things now work with fast pay, but it is well worth it for the safety and security that Doordash has placed on our Doordash accounts.
Still haven't even been paid!
ReplyDeleteTheir change to a week-wait for changing bank info is the single biggest reason that I work at INstacart. Door Dash really fucked things up with this phony story about scamming accounts. It was just an excuse to hold up our fucking money and keep us from switching accounts swiftly. I would suggest a person sign up for a different shopper service. Door Dash is too cocky without the pay to back it up.
ReplyDeleteIt's not phony! I worked for DoorDash until 1/3/21 when I was scammed for over $700. The DoorDash app can be hacked, fake delivery requests can be sent to a driver, and their telephone numbers are accessible to scammers who can then call a delivery driver pretending to be a DoorDash representative and then gain access to their FastPay, add a debit card, and steal their money.
DeleteIn addition to my message above, in my case, DoorDash didn't even honor their 7-Day FastPay fund transfer policy! They sent me an email message saying my funds would not be transferred for seven days but my funds were transferred and stolen immediately. DoorDash is unwilling to take any blame.
