Did Doordash fix the scheduling problem?
A day or two after we posted that article something strange happened that has never been seen before. Instead of no schedules being available, there was all day schedules available for every Tom, Dick and Harry. It seems as if anybody that wants to dash can just log on whenever they want. The all day schedules are not just available for one day. These all day schedules are available for all days of the week.
Doordash should get rid of schedules
Maybe Doordash is running an experiment. Maybe Doordash is thinking about getting rid of schedules. The way the schedules are right now, with all day schedules available to everybody, all dashers that want to work will never be denied.
It is basically the same concept that rival companies use. At least a couple of Doordash main competitors have a log on whenever you want to work agreement with their drivers. It has worked out great for them and their drivers. When a driver logs on, there is always plenty of work for them.
Doordash may have been scared of this concept and may have feared that too many dashers on at one time would flood the areas with too many dashers at one time. In their eyes, this would possibly mean that there could be a good chance of dashers not getting many calls and being unsatisfied. To prevent this from happening, they required dashers to book a schedule.
From all of the on-demand food delivery apps, Doordash seems to be the most oversaturated app. In many areas, Doordash just keeps hiring drivers and flooding the markets. Could this all day schedule open to every dasher be an experiment in disguise?
Of course this is all speculation, but if it is a Doordash experiment, I think it would convince Doordash that no schedules are needed. Just let dashers log on to any region that they want at any time of the day.
Working with these all day Doordash schedules
After getting these all day schedules, I had to see how much work was out there with so many other dashers on. I dedicated two days in a row to dashing and did five hours each day. I ended up making around $50 each day and got seven calls each day. None of this seems any different than before. It is about the same amount of money that I would earn before this whole scheduling problem thing. Even with more dashers on, I am still getting the same amount of calls. Doordash really should get rid of the schedules and let dashers log on to work anytime they want. They also need to activate a hiring freeze in oversaturated markets.
