New Rules for DoorDash Early Access Scheduling

Coming up this week there will be a change in the way the Doordash early access works for Doordash. Beginning 08/23/19, there will be new qualification criteria for dashers to access the program. Doordash drivers must have a customer rating of 4.6 and a completion rate of 95 percent. They also must have completed five dashes the previous week. Dashers that have 500 or more lifetime completed dashes do not need to worry about the previous weeks five dashes.

Why is Doordash changing the early access qualifications?

It seems that Doordash is in a new rewarding dashers with a high customer rating. Technically, this sounds great! I really do believe that dashers that provide great service to their customers should be rewarded. The problem that I have with this though is that I believe that the whole Doordash rating system is flawed. Nevertheless, those that are able to keep their ratings up high should be rewarded.

The way the system is right now everybody gets their schedule at 3p.m. I will tell you this, it is very difficult to get a schedule in most regions. This all goes back to Doordash hiring too many dashers. In my home region, if you are not quick enough, all the schedules are gone like in 10 seconds. If your first attempt is too slow, and then you have to refresh and try again it can be a real hassle. I am successful in getting a full days schedule 75 percent of the time, but I know dashers that say that they can never get a schedule. Those with high ratings should be rewarded and not have to fight with the vultures to get a schedule.

Is Doordash early access scheduling important?

The Doordash early access scheduling program can be very useful. I mean, geez, you are getting a head start on most dashers to secure a working schedule. There are some regions that have way too many dashers, and due to this, getting a schedule can be quite challenging.

Qualifying for the program will make life a bit easier for you. There will be less competition fighting for a schedule when you get yours. The likelihood of a dasher getting the exact schedule that they want highly increases. The Doordash early access program is important, but it is not something that is necessary.

What if I don't qualify for Doordash early access?

Don't feel too bad if you don't qualify for the Doordash early access program. Yours truly here is not going to qualify when it kicks off later this week, and I probably will never qualify with this new criteria implemented. As a dasher, even if you do everything correctly, maintaining a 4.6 rating and a 95 percent completion rate is not easy, and my guess is that the majority of dashers will not qualify for early access scheduling.

How do I get a schedule if I am not in the Doordash early access program?

The majority of dashers will still be competing for schedules as we always have. The only difference is that it wont be at our regular 3p.m time that we have gotten used of this past couple of months. What will out regular time be? Well, it is not going to be 3p.m. Instead, it will be 12a.m. Yep, we are taking it back to the old school. Schedules supposed to be released at midnight like they used to be

You should still expect a lot of competition as always. There will still be vultures waiting to battle you for a schedule. The only difference is that some of them will fall to sleep early; so that's a plus for you if you are a late night dasher.

  1. Been working for them for over a year have the customer rating but my completion rating is 89 because they will send me orders where the restaurant is in my area but Delivery is not so I reassign and I get punished for their mistakes

    1. That is why you check where it's going on the mini map before accepting. That is your fault not theirs.
