Dashers Now Have 30 Minutes to Log in or Lose Their Schedule

Concerning one of the latest changes on the Doordash app, I had to learn the hard way. Apparently, Doordash is no longer giving dashers one hour after their scheduled time to log in. That time has been shortened to 30 minutes. Dashers will now have half-an-hour to log in from their scheduled start time our they will lose their schedule.

I lost my full day scheduled dash

There are times when I edit my dash throughout the day due to various reasons. For example, if my schedule has me starting at 2p.m, but I am busy, I will just edit my schedule to 3p.m. No big deal, and lots of dashers do it. As an experienced dasher, I know that I have until 3p.m to edit my dash. I understand that if I don't do anything by 3p.m, I will lose my whole schedule.

Going on with the mentioned example, if i have not edited anything by 2:30 p.m I will get a text from Doordash reminding me that I was scheduled to start dashing 30 minutes ago. This reminder text always comes exactly 30 minutes after you were scheduled to start.

The other day I received a text a half hour after I was scheduled to start dashing. I did not look at my phone right away because I knew what time it was and knew what the text was; so I thought. A couple of minutes later I looked at the text and seen that it was a text informing me that I have lost my dash because I did not log in within 30 minutes after my scheduled dash.

This really messed up my day because I had a full day schedule ahead of me. I then seen a previous text from Doordash that informed me that I was scheduled to start dashing 15 minutes ago. This reminder text came in 15 minutes after my scheduled start instead of the 30 minute reminder coming in after my scheduled start.

The reminder text here always came in 30 minutes after, but now it is 15 minutes

Dashers no longer have one hour to log in after their scheduled time

Hopefully there are not too many dashers out there like me that will have to learn this the hard way. I mean, one way or another, we will all learn about this new time allowed, but it is a rude awakening when you are getting ready to go out dashing your full day but have your schedule taken away.

If somebody is reading this before it happens to them it can only be a good thing. There is no reason to complain about having only 30 minutes to log in after your scheduled start time. If that is the way Doordash wants it then so be it. It's just always good to know when a change like this happens ahead of time.

It may be better that dashers have 30 minutes after their scheduled time to log in

I actually think it is better that Doordash is giving their drivers 30 minutes to log in after their scheduled start time. Giving a whole hour may be just too much time. Giving 30 minutes to log in will keep dashers on their toes about their schedule.

I am not sure if this is a permanent thing that Doordash has implemented or if it is a temporary glitch, but I think it is here to stay. The reason I say this is that Doordash can be glitchy at times. I remember a while back we were only getting about 20 seconds to accept an order or not. This went on for days until it was finally fixed. Many dashers thought it was a permanent thing, but apparently it was a glitch.
