The benefits of becoming a top rate dasher
By far the greatest benefit that becoming a top rated dasher has is the "Dash Anytime" option. This gives a dasher the ability to log on to dash anytime they want. There is no reason to worry about scheduling as top rated dashers are able to log in anytime they want and in any region that they choose.
There will not be anymore having to worry about logging in at a certain time or competing with other dashers for certain time slots. No reason to sweat losing your all day dashing schedule when your pause exceeds the 35 minute timer. Becoming a top rated dasher minimizes all of the little things that dashers sometimes worry about, and lets them put their full concentration on delivering orders.
Another benefit of those with top rated dasher status is that they supposed to receive more delivery offers than regular dashers. What this means is that if there is an order out there, and there are two nearby dashers, the top rated dasher supposed to win the tie-breaker over a regular dasher and receive the order. How true this is I am not sure, but if this is true it is surely a good thing.
How to become a top rated dasher
There is certain criteria that a dasher must meet in order to become a top rated dasher. Customer rating must be above 4.70. Completion rate must be above 95 percent. Must have over 100 deliveries completed the previous month and must have a 70 percent acceptance rate. One other thing to keep in mind is that a dasher must have 200 total lifetime deliveries completed before being considered in to the top rated dasher program.
All dashers are evaluated on the first of each month. Just because a dasher qualified as a top rated dasher last month does not mean that they will qualify the next month. All ratings are considered on the first of each month. For example, if a dasher qualifies for top rated dasher on Jan 1st, but when Feb 1st comes around their customer rating is 4.50, they will not be a top rated dasher in February.
Also keep in mind that a dasher will not lose their top rated status in the middle of a month if their ratings drop. For instance, if a top rated dasher has their customer rating drop to 4.60 in the middle of January, they will still be a top rated dasher for the rest of the month. What is important here for the top rated dasher is to raise that customer rating to 4.70 by the beginning of February if they want to continue to have their top rated status in February.
Why did Doordash create the top rated dasher program?
This program was invented to reward dashers that maintain high ratings, but there is also another reason for it. With the new Doordash pay model, Doordash ran in to sort of a problem. Dashers have been accepting only the higher paying orders while the low paying orders were not being accepted. These low paying orders have been taking a very long time to be delivered or were not being delivered at all. This of course was not good business for Doordash and their customer satisfaction.
Please keep in mind that these low paying orders that dashers would not accept are usually non-tipper orders. Anybody in their right mind would understand why dashers would not accept them. Dashers do not want to waste their time delivering an order for sometimes pay as low as $2.
The top rated dasher program will help Doordash fulfill some of these low paying orders. It is not a full cure to the problem, but it will definitely help at least a little bit. This is done by the 70 percent acceptance rate that top rated dashers must maintain. That means that top rated dashers will feel a little bit of pressure in order to keep their top rated dasher status. Doing some of the cheap paying calls is by all means worth it if it means keeping top rated dasher status.
Some top rated dashers will probably not sweat their acceptance rate throughout most of the month, but when the end of the month is nearing and their acceptance rate is low, it wold be in their best interest to start accepting at least some of the lower paying offers. Some dashers will have it worst than others depending on what the calls are like in their region.
Yours truly usually has an acceptance rate of 50 to 70 percent. Most of the calls in my region are decent. If I have to accept a few calls that I normally wouldn't in order to keep my top rated status it will definitely be worth it. There are those in regions though that are offered many terrible calls. It will be tougher for them as they will have to accept more of the terrible calls to keep their top rated dasher status. Many of these dashers have acceptance rates of 10 to 40 percent. Looks like there will be a hustle during the last week of the month, but it will all be worth it.
I qualify but have not been notified. Please check into my account!
ReplyDeleteseems like it is awarded at the first of the month, but youy probaply found that out alredy
DeleteThis article was very helpful. Thank you!
DeleteMy customer rating is 4.93, Acceptance rate is 93%, Completion rate 100%, On time/early 99%, and I have 302 life time deliveries. I hope to get top dasher for September!
ReplyDeleteDid you get it? I got it today for September! 210 deliveries in August alone! Good luck!
DeleteI've been doing this for 2.5 years now and have been a top dasher on and off, but mostly on since it was in beta about 1.5 years ago or so. Remember, if you are newer on the platform and have high ratings you may still not get top dasher status because different markets only allow so many top dashers per month. I can always lock it in because I was one of the very first drivers in my area, Daytona Beach. But others have told me they did not get it because the area already has a full allotment of TD drivers. My current stats are 5.0 (not kidding) 71% AR, 100 Completion, 96 on time on 5800 deliveries.
ReplyDeleteThe only advantage to being Top Dasher is the ability to Dash Now.
ReplyDeleteAs for priority status, not true, we have debunked this many times. During slow times we have a spot were some of us drivers like to park and hang out. I was the only Top Dasher there, 2 out of 3 times on average they would get delivery notices over me.
Hello mrnatural. Thanks for sharing. You are right, dashing anytime you want is the only benefit. A top rated dasher does not get better paying calls, and there is no priority given to them for delivery opportunities. Again, thanks for sharing your experience.
DeleteI think top dashers should get more perks since they have to run the ship.. But im sure most will agree but seems dd is just all about making the buck and not profit sharing or helping the ones that are the foundation to there success
ReplyDeleteYes, it would be nice to get more perks. The dash anytime is nice. It would be even nicer if top rated dashers received some kind of bonus for qualifying for top rated dasher. Maybe a $100 bonus each month you qualify. What other kind of perks do you think they should offer?
DeleteHELL YES! $100 bucks would go a long way to get ppl to accept those cheap a$$holes who won't even give a damn dollar!
