The top rated dasher program was created by Doordash to reward dashers that meet certain criteria. Below you will find what is needed to become a top rated dasher and what the benefits are for a top rated dasher. There are certain sacrifices that are needed to qualify for top rated dasher status, and after reading this article you can decide if you are going to shoot for top rated dasher status or not.
Do you think these ratings are good enough to qualify as a top rated dasher? |
Criteria needed to become a top rated dasher
Before we talk about the benefits that go along with being a top rated dasher, we will briefly talk about the criteria that is needed first. This criteria must be met at the first of the month for a dasher to qualify for top rated dasher status. The first of the month is the only time Doordash checks its drivers to see who qualifies and who doesn't. If you are aiming to be a top rated dasher, the first of the month is the only time you want to worry about.
Ratings play a big part in becoming a top rated dasher. A dasher's customer rating must be at minimum 4.70. Their acceptance rate must be at least 70 percent, and their completion rate must be 95 percent. Also, a dasher must have 100 deliveries completed the previous month and at least 200 lifetime deliveries.
As you can see, new dashers will have to put in some work before they are able to qualify for top rated dasher status. No matter how good their ratings are, they will need to complete 200 deliveries first. Also, by implementing the 100 dashes needed last month, Doordash is making sure that very active dashers are the only ones that qualify.
Customer ratings is the rating that most dashers will have the most difficulty with. Maintaining that 4.70 rating can be kind of difficult sometimes. A dasher may feel that they are doing everything right but still some customers will give them bad ratings. There is not much you can do about this except do your best.
Remember this, being a polite and well groomed individual that gives prompt service is always better than being a stinky and rude driver that is late with the delivery. Again though, even when you do everything right some customers will still leave a bad rating, but don't let that minority of people discourage you.
The acceptance rate is pretty easy to maintain unless a dasher is really being picky with the orders that they'll accept. The acceptance rate must be 70 percent to qualify for top rated dasher status, but remember that it must be at that mark on the first of the month. The rest of the month don't matter.
My longest streak of being a top rated dasher was four months. I would make sure that my acceptance rate was at least 70 percent by the first, but the rest of the month I did not care. My acceptance rate would at times drop to 20 percent. I'll tell you what though, during that last week of the month, you may have to take some crappy calls to get yourself back up to 70 percent before the first of the month comes.
The completion rate of 95 percent should not be difficult unless a dasher is unassigning a lot deliveries after accepting them. Emergencies can happen sometimes and a dasher may need to unassign, but any dependable driver will never have a problem maintaining a 95 percent completion rate. The only ones that may have a problem with this is gig drivers that are running two apps at the same time. For example, if a driver accepts a $7 call for Doordash that is 4 miles away, but then a minute later gets a GrubHub call that pays $14 and is 2 miles away, they'll most likely unassign that Doordash order, and that will of course be a hit to their completion rate.
The benefits of becoming a top rated dasher
Dashing anytime you want and anywhere you want is the biggest benefit of becoming a top rated dasher. A top rated dasher never has to worry about schedules. They can just log on and off of Doordash as much as they want. It does not matter how many dashers are out there dashing in a certain region, a top rated dasher can get on board at will.
Scheduling can be a real pain the neck sometimes. Any experienced dasher knows the crap that you have to go through when you are trying to extend your dash. Picture this scenario. A dasher is working from 5 p.m to 10 p.m. It's now 9:31 p.m and the dasher is on a call. While doing this call, the dasher has to constantly try and extend their dash because it will be ending at 10 p.m. This is at times a major distraction while working, and to be honest it can be dangerous because many times dashers are trying to extend while driving on the road.
Of course top rated dashers do not have to worry about this. Logging on and off anytime is a major advantage that other dashers do not have. If a dasher wants to take a 2 hours break they can do so. For other dashers, they have to get schedules that work around them and many times those schedules are not available.
Another perk that goes along with being a top rated dasher is getting call priority over regular dashers. When things get slow, a top rated dasher will get calls before regular dashers. A top rated dasher will win any tie-breakers for a delivery opportunity. What this means is that if two dashers are sitting in a restaurant's parking lot and a delivery opportunity is available the top rated dasher would get the order instead of the regular dasher. This of course should lead to more calls and more money for the top rated dasher.
Bragging rights is another benefit of being a top rated dasher. Sometimes it just makes people feel good when they have earned their right to become part of a certain group. It is sort of like eBay sellers. Don't you think that top rated sellers have pride with that badge displayed by their name? It is the same thing with top rated dashers on Doordash. As human beings we love badges next to our names.
