Doordash pays its drivers every week by direct deposit every Sunday night (Early Monday Morning.) Most drivers will receive their weekly pay deposited into their bank account by Tuesday. This works out great for most people, but for those that want their money right away, Doordash has what is called "Fast Pay."
With Fast Pay, a dasher can request money anytime they want and have it almost instantly in their bank account. It can only be done once per day though. So if Fast Pay is used to deposit $50 of Doordash earnings at 2 p.m., the dasher will not be able to do another Fast Pay until after midnight.
The reason I stopped using Fast Pay from Doordash
First off let me say that I think Fast Pay from Doordash is a great benefit that is offered to all drivers. Nobody has to use it if they don't want to, but giving dashers this option is in my opinion a great thing. There are times when we all need money now; not next Tuesday. The bills wont wait until then and any dasher has to be grateful that they can have their money in their bank account in a few seconds.
With that said, I no longer ever use Fast Pay from Doordash. There was a time when I was using it basically everyday and that became very expensive. Every time a dasher uses Fast Pay, Doordash charges them a $1.99 fee. Now add that up for the month, and you can see that you threw a lot of money down the drain.
The funny thing is that using Fast Pay just became a habit for me. At this time, I was working Doordash every single day for about 12 hours per day. I was really dashing hard. At the end of the shift, I would request my money that I had earned for the day and then would drive-thru my bank's ATM and pull out my earnings. Most of the time I didn't even need the money. Like I said, it just became a bad habit.
For those couple of months, that bad habit was sure pretty expensive. I was working every single day so for those couple of months I was basically getting charged $2 per day. That was around $60 per month. That's just crazy when you think about it. Sure, if you use Fast Pay from Doordash once or twice a month it's no big thing, but do it everyday, and you will really pay for it.
I can't say that I will never use Fast Pay from Doordash ever again because if I really need the money right away I'll definitely use it. That's why this feature is there for us dashers. I guarantee you though that I'll never make it a habit again.
That's just way too much money being thrown in the trash. If you are somebody that has the nasty habit of requesting your money every single day the way that I did, you really should stop and think about how much of your money you are wasting. I'm sure you can use tht money on something else more worthwhile.
Why does Doordash charge to use Fast Pay?
I don't know any details about this. It is just what they charge. Call it a processing fee if you want. Hopefully it will be free one day, but I wouldn't count on it. All the other food delivery apps have a similar type Fast Pay program, and just like Doordash, they basically all have some kind of fee.
Can you imagine how much Doordash takes in with this fee? At about $2 per Fast Pay transaction. I wonder how much Doordash takes in per day with their Fast Pay fee.Just a curious mind thinking out loud here.
Whether Doordash is making any profits off of this Fast Pay fee is anyone's guess. Doordash may be getting charged something for each transaction of this service. I have no idea how or who Doordash does business with and how it works. If Doordash had a dollar expense for every transaction that would still leave them with a $1 profit for each transaction. That's a lot of daily income! Then again maybe they are not earning anything off of it. What do you think?
