Getting deactivated by Doordash is something that most dashers never want to get a message about. If you look on social media or other Internet sources, much too often we will see messages from dashers talking about how they were deactivated by Doordash. In this article we will talk about things a dasher should watch out for if they don't ever want to get deactivated by Doordash.
Please note that this is not an official list of reasons for deactivation. If somebody wanted something like that, they would have to contact Doordash directly. Remember, I'm a dasher just like any other dasher out there, and this list just comes from my personal knowledge at the moment as I write this article.
Reasons a Dasher may get deactivated by Doordash
Low Doordash customer ratings
In the past, Doordash used to have minimum ratings for different cities. Things have changed now and all dashers that have completed over 20 deliveries must maintain a certain minimum rating. A customer rating of 4.20 and a completion rate of 80 percent must be maintained by all dashers. If ratings in these two categories fall below this, it is grounds for deactivation.
For those that are wondering about their acceptance rate, you'll be glad to know that Dooordash will not deactivate you because of your acceptance rate. If a dasher finds themselves deactivated, and they see that they have a low acceptance rate, they may think that's the reason for their deactivation when in fact it's not. There is another reason out there for their deactivation that they will have to figure out.
For those that get really worried about being deactivated because of their ratings, please don't jump to conclusions and think that if you drop below the threshold that you are going to get deactivated the next day. My customer rating at one time dropped to almost 4.0, and I was never deactivated. When that happened, I was about 1000 dashes in.
Eventually in time, I raised my rating and its never been lower than 4.50 since then. I'm usually between 4.70 and 4.90. The highest I ever got it was 4.94. Again though, if you are a dasher with a very low customer rating, don't give up. Instead, just work hard to get that customer rating up higher.
Late Doordash deliveries
Even though there is no set percentage of calls that you have to be on time with, too many late deliveries can get a dasher deactivated. Doordash keeps an on time-early rate percentage of all deliveries and just like all other ratings base everything on a dashers past 100 deliveries. Deactivating a dasher for too many late deliveries is Doordashs call, but keep in mind that most dashers will never have a problem with this unless they are constantly late to their deliveries.
I have never paid any mind to late deliveries. What I mean is that I have never given it any thought. When I'm out dashing, I'm usually not a speed racer out there. I usually conduct things at a normal pace. Complete your Doordash deliveries like you should, and you'll never have a problem with getting too many late deliveries on your record.
Assaulting a customer
If a Doordash driver physically or verbally assaults a customer, it is grounds for deactivation from the Doordash platform. This means using abusive language or verbal assault toward a customer or a merchant. If a dasher finds themselves getting in to a verbal argument with a customer or a merchant, it is best to just walk away if possible. Of course, we are all human and there is a certain line of disrespect, but if a dasher doesn't want to get deactivated, it really is best to just walk away and avoid the situation.
Physical assault should be self explanatory. A dasher shall not ever touch a customer or a worker at a restaurant. Besides getting deactivated from Doordash, a person that commits physical assault will have more to worry about than Doordash. They can be arrested and charged. Of course when it comes to self defense it's a different story. A dasher should always use their better judgement in every situation that they may encounter.
Unauthorized use of the Doordash red card
The Doordash red card shall be used by a dasher when they have to pay a merchant for the purchased food. Using the red card for anything other than that is grounds for deactivation from the Doordash platform. Most merchants do not require the dasher to use the red card, but when needed, just use it as you supposed to and there will never be a problem.
Signing up for Doordash with false information
Doordash can deactivate a dasher if they find out that the dasher signed up with false information. Most people that do this probably have already gotten deactivated from Doordash before, so they try to sign up again with false information. Sadly, there's a great chance that they will eventually get deactivated again like they did the first time.
Having duplicate accounts is also a big no-no. If Doordash finds out that a customer has more than one Doordash account, they may deactivate both accounts. It's best to follow the rules and stick to one account.
Using drugs and alcohol
Using drugs or alcohol while dashing is grounds for deactivation. No dasher should ever be high while out dashing. Besides hard drugs, a dasher also shouldn't be smoking any weed, joint, pot, grass, 420, yeska or whatever else you want to call it. Besides using drugs, a dasher shall not even have it in their possession. That means there is no selling drugs or anything of that nature. Like assault, besides getting deactivated from Doordash, a person doing this would have bigger things to worry about.
Stealing / Theft
A dasher should not ever involve themselves with any thievery. That means from a merchant or from a customer. No matter how petty a dasher may think it is to take something, always remember that if it doesn't belong to you then you shouldn't take it. Don't ever think that the value of an item matters.
Discriminating against another person
This is a no-brainer. Discrimination in any workplace is a no-no. If an offense like this is proven, Doordash has a reason to deactivate a dasher's account.
Tampering with customer's food
A dasher should never mess with a customer's food. That means there shall never be any digging in the bag of food to eat their French fries! Doing things like this is a reason for Doordash to deactivate a dasher's account.
One great thing that has increased over the past couple of years is the amount of sealed bags from restaurants. This is great for dashers because it decreases the chances that a customer will make a false claim. The reason that I mention this is because years ago a customer actually accused me of this. The bag was torn when I received it from the merchant, so I guess the customer thought I tampered with their food. It's a good thing the Doordash representative was understanding.
Falsely marking an order as delivered
If a dasher slides an order as completed when it fact it was not, they may have their Doordash account deactivated. I actually did this on accident one time. Good thing I was able to deliver the food quickly after I had realized what I had done. I didn't have the address, but the customer had texted me earlier about something, so I was able to contact him and get his address.
Doordash isn't looking for those that slide on accident the way I did. They are looking for those that purposely mark an order as delivered with the intent of keeping the customer's food. In all seriousness, dashers like this will never last very long.
Cheating the Doordash referral system
I've heard about dashers getting deactivated for cheating the Doordash referral system. Doordash usually has a referral system in place (you can find it on your Doordash app) where they will reward dashers for bringing in other dashers. I'm not sure how the cheating is done, but it seems like a lot of people that get deactivated for this feel that they are not guilty.
Engaging in fraud
I've heard of dashers getting deactivated for fraud. What they were doing that signified fraud as the reasoning for their deactivation is anybody's guess. Anytime you hear the word fraud, it seems like it may have been a serious thing.
Unsafe driving
Texting while dashing is a big no-no. If a cop pulls you over you'll have problems. Using the Doordash app while driving is not allowed, but let's be honest and truthful here. As dashers, we are kind of forced to use the app while driving. We soon get used of it and it's no big thing. I'm sure that Doordash and all other similar apps make this claim to protect themselves in case a dasher ever gets in to an accident and tries to blame them.
They will also deactivate you if you are charged with a crime. They assume you are guilty until Proven innocent. I was just deactivated. I Haven't been convicted. The case is pending and is leaning towards being dropped completely. But in the mean time I'm going to lose everything because, in my opinion, door dash is violating my constitutional right of being innocent until proven guilty.
