Doordash rewards Dashers with Milestone Bonus Pay to Celebrate going Public

Doordash surprised many of us Dashers this morning with an early Christmas bonus. Actually, it is not a Christmas bonus. Instead, Doordash explains it in their email as a milestone celebration for the Doordash community as Doordash has become a publicly traded company.

The email was received this morning by Doordash drivers, and the email explains that Dashers with a certain amount of completed lifetime dashes will be receiving a bonus payment from Doordash before the end of the day. I'm glad to say that I met one of the thresholds and within three hours of receiving the email from Doordash, I've had an extra $1200 deposited into my Doordash earnings.

$500 to celebrate your over 5000 deliveries

Dashers that have completed over 5000 deliveries will be rewarded with $500. Doordash will simply deposit the earnings into a Dasher's weekly earnings. Most people that qualify will most have probably received their money by now as I have, but Doordash did say by the end of the day.

Dasher's that did not receive any lifetime deliveries bonus

I know some Dashers that didn't qualify for any bonus out there might be disappointed. No reason for that though. If you didn't qualify, it's most likely because you have not been dashing long enough. Not your fault. Who seen this coming anyway? I remember Uber Eats did something similar a couple of yours ago, and I didn't get anything as I didn't have enough deliveries to qualify for anything.

It takes a long time to get 5000 deliveries under your belt, and everybody that qualified has certainly been dashing for quite some time. Think about this, if a Dasher did around 100 deliveries per week, it would take him or her at least a year to do 5000 dashes. Not an impossible task, and a full-timer can do this. My point, it takes a lot of time to accomplish this. Most dashers do this part time, so it would take much longer than a year.

Dashers that were close but didn't qualify for the Doordash milestone bonus

In the Doordash email, it states on the bottom that the milestone reward calculation is based on deliveries as of November 30, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. I'm sure that there is at least one person out there that is blowing up Doordash customer service because they got their 5000th delivery here in the beginning of December. That's got to be an unfortunate situation.

It also says that to qualify a Dasher must have completed at least one delivery in 2020 at the time of the calculation. This is terrible for the person with over 10,000 deliveries, but decided to take a long break this year. Hopefully anybody in this situation didn't even receive the email and has moved on to better things in their life so that they don't have to say "Damn! Missed out on a free $1,200!"

Thank you for the lifetime milestone bonus Doordash

All in all, Doordash has certainly made a lot of people's day. It's always nice to receive unexpected money. A lot of people are struggling right now with the Covid 19 pandemic going on in our world, and it was nice to see Doordash surprise Dashers with this delivery milestone bonus.

We can all be critical of Doordash, and the other app based gig companies sometimes. If you are a regular reader of my "Doordash Driver Blog" here, you know that I have been critical of Doordash at times, and I am not apologizing for honest opinions, but give credit where credit is deserved. Doordash has done their drivers right today, and they should be praised that. Thank you Doordash. Happy Dashing!

    2. Hi was just wondering did you get a bonus after 10,000 deliveries?

    3. Yes, I did. But, honestly, don't be looking forward to any bonuses for any amount of Dashes done. Doordash does not give bonuses when a Dasher does a certain amount of dashes. This was a one time thing a few years ago as Doordash celebrated the company going public. At that time, on that date, you got a bonus based on if you had 5,000 dashes, 10,000 and reportedly 15,000 dashes. It is NOT an ongoing thing though, and there are no more bonuses given for completing a certain number of dashes.

    1. It would be nice if it was an ongoing thing. Unfortunately, it was a one time deal thing.

  5. It’s very sad that this company does NOT support its dashers. I’ve been a dasher since 17’ and am bearing down on 10k deliveries with a 4.96 94%complete and 92% on time. Tony has said multiple times that the company relies on the “core” dashers to get it done but yet he is the last when it comes to us “core” dashers needing him no such luck. Rite now gas is $5/gal and I get bout 20mpg so if i take that $2 delivery 8.5 miles thats 17round trip that calculates to a net lo$$ of -$3 after that gallon of gas. Yes we do get 10% on gas purchases but i feel that Tony needs to step ip now and further a$$i$t his “core” dashers with additional resources to help ease the pain at the pump. Remember everyone this country has enough oil to run for the next 50+ years but we gotta fatten the pockets of OPEC and the saudis so the can continue to brag on social media about wiping their but with gold leaf toilet paper while this country goes bankrupt and ppl evicted an on the streets. Shame on you Joe and Nancy. Just remember to VOTE VOTE VOTE in November and lets get this country back on track also Open the oil pipeline and close the border. Let’s go Brandon
