Doordash Email - You Haven't Dashed for a While - It's Been a Couple of Weeks

Recently an email was received from Doordash. I've never seen an email from them like this before. The legitimacy of the email is not in question. It's an email from Doordash, but all I did was take some time off from dashing. I didn't know that Doordash would contact a Dasher if they stopped dashing for a while. I've had other spurts in the past when I didn't dash for a while, but that was some time ago. Maybe things have changed.

Doordash wants to know why you haven't been dashing

The point of this email from Doordash was to find out why I haven't been dashing. Sure, they are acknowledging that they know I haven't dashed for a while, but what they really want to know is why. To make this as simple as possible, they have added multiple choices that I can choose from to let them know the reason.

Doordash - I'm just taking a break - I'll be back

The first option there is "I'm just taking a break - I'll be back." For most people, this would be the obvious choice. It definitely is for me. I've just been busy with other projects. Don't worry though Doordash. If I am in desperate need of rent money or food money, I'll be back out there dashing right away.

Most of us use Doordash as a supplemental income, and there comes time in all of our lives when we need to take a break for whatever reason. Yes, I'll be back on the road soon once again, but for now it just isn't happening for me. There comes times when other things have to be put ahead of dashing. Of course only if our financial situation makes this choice possible and we are able to do so.

Even for full-time dashers there comes a time when a break is needed. Maybe they went on a vacation or they just want to rest for a couple of weeks. You get the idea, and that's what makes being an independent contractor so great. The employee life? You can have that! I don't need to ask for permission to take time off of work.

Doordash - I'm not earning enough

The next reason that can be chosen from this Doordash email is "I'm not earning enough." They want to know if you are not dashing because you are not earning enough money. I'm sure a lot of dashers would love to choose this one. Yes, even the dashers out there earning $1500 to $2000 per week.

Doordash - I had a poor expereience

Another option is "I had a poor experience." Doordash wants to know if something major happened that made you stop dashing. If you let them know about this, I'm not sure what they will do to help the poor experience, but it is an option here.

Doordash - I'm having car problems

Next on the list of options is "I'm having car problems." I guess Doordash wants to know how many of their dashers out there are actually breaking down. Maybe they will let them know about some rental deals out there. If this is the truly the case with anyone, I would personally recommend HyreCar. You should see an advertisement directly below here.

Doordash - I'm taking time to care for someone or care for myself

Next up is "I'm taking time to care for someone or care for myself." I take it that this would be an individual that is ill. I guess Doordash wants to know how many people are taking time off due to Covid. Of course a person can be sick from many other illnesses out there too.

Doordash - I am earning somewhere else now

Continuing on, we have "I am earning somewhere else now." Does Doordash want you to know about you earning with rival companies such as Uber Eats or GrubHub. Of course they don't specifically state food delivery gig companies, but it seems like this is the intention. Of course an individual can choose this option if they are just putting more time into their regular job.

Doordash - I don't have time right now

The last real choice here is "I don't have time right now." This option I guess is for the person that does not want to give specifics. They just are basically telling Doordash straight out that they don't have any time for dashing.

Doordash - Hear me out!

Lastly, we have the "Other" choice. This is for the person that wants to actually explain specifically why they haven't been dashing. This is a free for all.

I will be honest here, I did not fill out anything. I just ignored the email like I do most emails. A friend of mine that received the same very email said that he tried to choose a couple options but that it would not let him. So apparently you can only choose one option.

He did say that he found a way around it though. He said after choosing one of the options and submitting, he was able to go back to the original email and choose another option again. Basically, you could do this as many times as you want.

I know this whole thing is about marketing. Doordash wants to learn as much as they can about their drivers. I just wanted to share this email with others and let you know that if you received it, you are not alone. Well, that's all for now. Happy dashing!
