How to deal with the wait list when applying for Doordash

It's no secret that Doordash has become the number one food delivery app in the United States. With that, the demand for Dashers has become more important than ever. Throughout the years, Doordash has always had to keep up with the demand and has hired Dasher drivers like crazy.

 

Unfortunately, many areas ended up having too many Dashers, and Doordash had to start slowing down the amount of Dashers that they partner with. 

The Doordash wait list

When applying to become a Doordash driver, it is not uncommon for would-be Dashers to now be put on a waiting list. This is because the area a Dasher is applying for currently has too many active Dashers. After the initial application, Doordash will contact the would-be Dasher via email at a later date so that the application can be continued.

How long will I be on the Doordash wait list?

There is no clear answer to this question. It may be a couple of days, but it can also be months. It all depends on when Doordash feels that more drivers are needed in a particular area. 

Can I check my Doordash wait list status?

There is no way to check your Doordash status. Again, Doordash has a way statistically to know when they need new drivers. They know how many orders they get in a particular area and how many active drivers they need to deliver those orders. They also know how many Dashers have not been very active. The only thing a Doordash driver applicant can do is wait for Doordash to contact them. There is no way to check your status.

If you have a Dasher account cherish it

I wouldn't have said this years ago, but it now seems that having a Dasher account is a very valuable asset. No matter who you are, having access to the Doordash app is now a  privilege. If you have a Doordash driver account, you really need to cherish it.

Having a Dasher account has become very valuable

The vast majority of Dashers have a full-time job and deliver with Doordash on the side. With the Doordash wait list and so many people trying to become Dashers, there has never been a time when a Dasher account has been so valuable. 

It brings a bit of security to those with full-time jobs. If something were to happen to their job, Doordash will help take care of them until they get back on their feet. Security is really a nice thing to have.
