Doordash firing all Dashers! What are you going to do?

Doordash has always been a great way for people to make money with a side hustle. There are some Dashers that quit their regular 9 to 5 job and begin Dashing full-time. Why? Because a full-time Dasher can odten make much more money that what can be made at a regular 9 to 5 job. This all seems great, but it comes with a risk.

Doordash can unfairly terminate your account

Sure, just like Doordash, you can get unfairly fired from a 9 to 5 too, but you will have a bit more say about it. With Doordash, you cannot technically be fired since you are not an employee. Instead, your Dasher account will be what they call deactivated. In most of our eyes, it's the same thing as getting fired.

There have been many cases of Dashers opening up their app one day and discovering that they were deactivated. Of course, some times the reason may be valid. But, there are other times when a Dasher has done nothing wrong. Maybe a customer made a complain against the Dasher and that was that. Maybe a Dasher is receiving a bunch of nonsensical policy violations.

There are lots of invalid reasons a dasher's account can be deactivated. Many times, it is a bogus complaint from a restaurant employee or a customer. It can be customers claiming that they never received their food when they did. You know, the cheap-asses that would lie to get free food. Anyways, you get the point.

What would you do if Doordash terminated your Dasher account?

Never! I repeat never, depend on Doordash as your main source of income. Always have something else going for you. Sure, the money with Doordash may be great, but don't set yourself up to possibly get unfairly screwed over.

If you really want to do full-time gig work within the food delivery industry, you're going to have to make sure to protect yourself. This means that you will need to be registered with other food delivery apps. I am talking about apps such as Uber Eats, Grubhub and some of the other smaller companies out there. If you have multiple apps to choose from, you will never truly be dependent on one should something happen.

If Doordash deactivates your account, you may or may not be able to reactivate it. Every situation is different. If you do have your Dasher account reactivated, it may take weeks or even months to get things back to normal. This is not good because your rent, bills and other expenses are not going to wait weeks or months for you. Doordash can basically ruin your life.

If you are registered with other apps, a Doordash deactivation will not be that much of a big deal. Nobody wants their Dasher account deactivated, but when you have other apps that will keep the dollars rolling in, the Doordash deactivation will not seem so tragic. If it takes weeks or months to get your Dasher account back, it will not impact your financial life much because you have Uber Eats, Grubhub or other apps that'll keep you working.

I've been in this industry for a very long time, and one thing I've learned is to protect your ass! Apps such as Doordash will let you work for them, but there really is no loyalty to you. I mean, not that you should expect it, but they could really care less if you are deactivated. Experienced Dashers know what I'm talking about through their experiences with support agents.

It's also good to remember that we really don't know the future of these food delivery companies. The whole food delivery business financial structure is really terrible, and it should not surprise anybody if it all went belly up. The moral of the story here is do not fully depend on Doordash or any other food delivery app.

  1. Doordash deactivate my account based on my exception rate when I've had numerous times of app issues in that and all I can be told is uninstall and reinstall it again yesterday was my first biggest app issue ever where I'd accept an order and it wasn't there this is unfair exception rate should not go against you when everything else is good
