How to Deal with Doordash Stacked Orders

When out dashing, there are times when Doordash feels the need to give their Dasher's stacked orders. What this means is giving a Dasher more than one order at a time. There are various reasons that Doordash will do this. We'll talk about that and how a Dasher should handle stacked orders.

How does a Dasher get a stacked order?

A Dasher has no control as to when, why or how they receive a stacked order. It will come randomly on the Dasher's app just like any other order. A Dasher will be on a call when all of a sudden they get another ping for another order. Many times it's the same restaurant, but other times it's not.

Dashers are not obligated to take a stacked order

There is never any obligation to take a stacked order. Just like a regular first order, it is up to the Dasher if they want to accept it or decline it. Sometimes, that second order may be too far out. So, it's always best to pay attention as to where the locations are.

How many stacked orders can you take?

There is no set amount, but usually it is two or three. Sometimes you may have four stacked orders at once, but it is more rare. The most ridiculous thing I ever saw one time was when I had six stacked orders covering four different restaurants. What was even more ridiculous was me accepting them all. It took me a while to do, and with the last two deliveries let's just say the customers weren't too happy.

Why does Doordash give stacked orders?

There are a couple of reason why Doordash gives stacked orders. The first reason is that they just don't have enough Dashers on the road to cover all the orders they're getting. With the orders overshadowing the amount of Dashers that are on the road, Doordash has no choice but to send these orders to Dashers that are already on a call.

Another reason Doordash will send a Dasher stacked orders is because the stacked order is going near the original order's delivery location. This is great for the Dasher because they get to make two deliveries and make double the money. Also, they'll be saving on their gas expense.

Should I take stacked orders?

Accepting stacked orders is always a good thing for the Dasher. It's more money in your pocket. Also, you'll usually save on gas. I will always accept stacked orders as long as the orders are going in somewhat the same way. If the stacked order is very far away and going the opposite way, I won't take it.

Most of the time, stacked orders are going the same way as the original order, but don't count on this. There are times when the stacked orders are going the complete opposite way. All in all, stacked orders are great. Just pay attention to the drop off locations, and you will be fine.

  2. If this happens, it is a Doordash glitch and you must contact Doordash and let them know about it. They should pay you for your time.
