Yes, there is a catch here. In order to get the 10 percent gasoline cash back discount a Dasher must have a Dasher Direct prepaid account. Once this is done, they will receive their Business Visa card which must be used when getting gas to receive the cash back rewards.

How a Dasher can get the 10 percent cash back in gas?

When a Dasher puts gasoline into their vehicle using their Dasher Direct Business Visa card, they began being rewarded with a 10 percent discount on March 17, 2022. This offer was to expire on April 20, 2022, but Doordash extended this offer until August 31, 2022. There is a lot of money to be saved. This is especially true for full-time Dashers whom can easily spend $200 to $500 or more per month on gas.

Normally, Dasher Direct prepaid account holders receive a 2 percent gasoline cash back reward. This is still great savings that a Dasher would otherwise not get if they didn't use their Business Visa card. Account holders have always enjoyed the 2 percent cash back gasoline savings. This 10 percent cash back gas savings is just extra jello in the pudding, but how long will it last?

What exactly is a Dasher Direct Prepaid Account?

When it comes to getting paid for deliveries, Doordash drivers have three options. They can get paid weekly by regular bank deposits, they can choose "Fast Pay" which transfers money to their bank account almost instantly for a small fee, or they can choose to have a Dasher direct prepaid account. Many Dashers choose the Dasher direct prepaid account for the convenience of having instant access to their earnings. They also get to enjoy perks such as cash back on gasoline.

Those with a Dasher direct prepaid account are issued a Dasher Direct Business Visa Card. After each dash completed, the earnings are deposited into the Dashers account. This means instant access to their money, and all of this is done with no fees.

Can a Dasher get a discount or cash back on gas without a Dasher Direct Prepaid Account?

Unfortunately, Doordash is not giving out any cash back discounts to Dashers that don't have a Dasher direct prepaid account. This should come as no surprise to anyone as the gasoline cash back discount is nothing new. It's just that Doordash has temporarily upgraded the regular 2 percent cash back to 10 percent cash back.

Should I sign up for a Dasher Direct Prepaid Account to save on gas?

Many Dashers find having their Doordash money deposited into their Doordash Direct Business Visa card instantly the best way to get paid. They also find that the gasoline incentives help. It is a personal decision as to if someone wants to open up a Dasher Direct Prepaid Account.

Personally, I do not have one of these accounts. I prefer to get paid weekly via direct deposit into my bank. If I needed my money on a daily basis, I would sign up for it, but I don't and can always wait the week. The gasoline perk is something that will get someone in to thinking about signing up, and if it benefits them, it would probably be a good idea. As for me, the guy that drives an electric car, the cash back on the gas would be useless.

Again though, why wouldn't someone want to save money on gas? Why wouldn't they want instant access to their cash if they need it. I think the Dasher Direct Prepaid Account is one of the best ideas Doordash ever had. It also minimizes the chance of scammers stealing a Dasher's money.

So how long will Doordash offer the 10 percent cash back on gas?

As mentioned earlier, Doodash has already extended the 10 percent cash back on gas one time. It is set to end on August 31st, 2022. There has not been any word as to whether Doordash will extend it again or not. If they do, it will really be terrific. But, even if they don't, those with the Dasher Direct Prepaod Card will still enjoy 2 percent cash back. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed and hope that Doordash keeps the 10 percent cash back deal going!
