When using the platform Doordash to have your food delivered, a customer will want their food delivered in a fast and courteous manner. For most, this means having their food delivered in at least a half hour and having their food nice and warm. Sometimes, what customers forget is that good service usually comes with a price. It is not free. To get your order delivered promptly, you will have to reward your dasher. Read on to learn more.
Why did my Doordash order take so long to deliver?
When placing a Doordash order, customers will need to pay for their food, taxes, sometimes a delivery fee, a service fee and then they will have the option to tip their Doordash delivery driver. To some, all these fees may seem pretty steep. When all is said and done, they may opt to leave their dasher a very small tip or no tip at all.
We have to understand that none of the delivery fee or service goes to the dasher, and if there is no tip, the dasher will only receive base pay from Doordash. This base pay is frequently as low as $2 or $3. So, when your order is circulated and offered to dashers, they will see that very small payout.
No dasher will want to deliver your order for such a cheap payout. Would you want to deliver someone's food for $2 or $3 and waste 20 to 30 minutes of your time. Of course you wouldn't. Most dashers will decline the offer to deliver your order. They will instead wait for better paying orders.
Your order will get recirculated from dasher to dasher as everyone denies it. Meanwhile, your food is just sitting at the restaurant ready to be picked up and delivered. Eventually, a newbie dasher that doesn't know any better will pick up your order and deliver your cold food to you. He will get his or her few bucks for taking care of your order, but this new dasher will eventually learn that delivering orders like this is not worth it.
How can I get my Doordash order delivered quickly?
It all comes down to tipping well. Doordash customers that tip good will always receive the best service possible. If you tip your dasher at least $5, dashers that receive your offer will see an acceptable amount of pay for your order. Tip $5 and the minimum that they will see is $7 ($2 base pay and $5 tip.) It may be more than that as Doordash may offer them a higher base pay. The dasher may see a $10 order or $12 order. Again, it depends on the Doordash base pay, but the dasher will not see anything lower than $7.
This will ensure that your order does not circulate from dasher to dasher with everyone declining it due to the low pay. It is very likely that the first dasher to receive your order will accept it and deliver it. This means that you should expect a quick delivery and warm food. You will be happy with your food, and the dasher will be happy with their pay.
No tip Doordash customers cannot complain when their food takes long to get
Well, technically they can, but they have no legit reason to complain. After reading what has been explained above, would it make any sense to complain?
You may have a low or no tip customer that gets their order quickly and thinks that this is the norm. They will soon learn that this is not how things normally work. They may have gotten lucky a few times by having a newbie dasher deliver their order, but with future orders, they will soon find themselves waiting forever for their cold food.
Doordash drivers are not your enemy
Don't ever think that Doordash delivery drivers are out to get you if you are a low or no tipper. They don't have static with any of the customers; even the low tippers. It just comes down to dashers trying to make a decent living.
Things would be different if dashers were employees and received an hourly wage. If that were the case, dashers would treat deliveries a bit more fairly. Unfortunately, with the way dashers are paid, this is what we all have to deal with.
So, to get your Doordash order delivered quickly, it is quite simple. Tip your Doordash driver at least $5. You will be pleasantly surprised with the terrific service your orders receive.
